Mya Carter

Owner & Founder of HWHC, Therapist, LCSW-C, LICSW

I’m Mya Carter, a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, and I founded Hope & Wellness Center in 2024. With over 8 years of experience working with diverse clients in various settings—ranging from residential facilities and the child welfare system to social service agencies, hospitals, mental health organizations, and advocacy work on Capitol Hill—I bring valuable knowledge, insight, respect, and cultural responsiveness to every client I work with.

I specialize in helping adolescents and adults facing depression, hopelessness, trauma, identity/self-esteem challenges, grief, loss, and relationship issues. Using trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence-based approaches, my style is psychoanalytic, encouraging clients to confront internal barriers affecting their well-being.

With a deep commitment to helping others, my goal is to instill hope and inspire individuals to create a life filled with wellness, peace, and healing. Having personally experienced significant hardships, I consider myself a witness to the transformative power of therapy and self-discovery.
